Currently serving as Senior Vice President of Operations for
oncology pharmacy services at OncoMed Pharmaceutical Services, Ellen
Scharaga has overseen the company’s growth while raising professional
standards in the organization. Ellen Scharaga’s extensive experience in
the pharmacy industry has proven invaluable for OncoMed.
With a broad range of experience, Ellen Scharaga oversees a wide
variety of OncoMed’s daily operations. Responsible for the call center
and pharmacy dispensing operations, Ellen Scharaga has managed to
increase turn-around times for prescription processing by 30 percent.
Ellen Scharaga has also achieved accreditation for key facilities within
OncoMed, and is responsible for implementing the company’s best
practices in conformance with all applicable state and federal law
governing medical care and pharmacies.
Ellen Scharaga also oversees the direction of all pharmacy, home
infusion medication, and private-sector and government-funded benefit
programs. Responsible for negotiation with third-party benefit
providers, Ellen Scharaga brings her successful experience in past
positions to OncoMed. Among her current goals is to maximize efficiency
and profits through contract negotiations with pharmacy vendors and
specialty contract relationships. In her prior position as Vice
President of Pharmacy at Group Health Incorporated in New York, Ellen
Scharaga realized over $25 million in savings by reducing contract
administration fees and negotiating lower specialty injection drug
costs. By restructuring benefit plan designs and utilizing cost sharing
measures, Ellen Scharaga achieved millions of dollars in savings.
Ellen Scharaga directs the implementation of these managerial
strategies while guiding her division through substantial expansion.
Growing operational staff by 50 percent, Ellen Scharaga works to ensure
that OncoMed’s employees continue to operate at the highest levels,
personally providing training support to sales associates and conducting
presentations to key account holders in order to distinguish the
pharmacy management program in the marketplace.
